What is DOOM: The Dark Ages - Revelations?
Revelations is a campaign expansion for DOOM: The Dark Ages, developed by id Software and published by Bethesda Softworks. It is not a standalone game — you need the base game to play. The expansion continues the story of the DOOM Slayer following the events of The Dark Ages, dropping him into a merciless purgatory after being wounded and betrayed.
Director Hugo Martin described the scope of Revelations at the Slayers Club live stream: "It's massive... it's basically like a sequel. I mean, that's what it feels like, it's just ginormous."
Gameplay
Revelations builds on the foundation The Dark Ages established — the heavier, more grounded rhythm compared to DOOM Eternal's air-dashing pace. Expect new levels, harder demon variants, and deeper environmental puzzle design layered into the combat.
A new weapon is confirmed: the Chain Spear, which meaningfully changes the combat loop. id Software has been clear that the expansion isn't just more of the same — it introduces new mechanics alongside the new content.
If the shield-saw, the brute-force approach, and the slower, weightier Slayer clicked with you in the base game, Revelations is built directly on top of that.
