Titan Quest Anniversary Edition Draws New Players as Titan Quest II Ships Its Wild Lands Update

Titan Quest is the 2006 action RPG that plays a lot like Diablo, except you fight through ancient Greece, Egypt, and Asia instead of dungeons full of demons. It is the classic players are circling back to right now, and the easiest way in is the Anniversary Edition on Steam for $19.99, often on sale for a few bucks.

Here is the short version of why people still play it. You start by picking one of nine masteries, which are basically skill trees: Warfare, Defense, Hunting, Rogue, Earth, Storm, Nature, Spirit, and Dream. At a higher level you pick a second one, and the combo becomes your class. Mix Warfare and Earth and you are a Battlemage. Mix Hunting and Nature and you are a Ranger. There are 36 combinations in total, and that build freedom is the thing fans keep coming back for.

The Anniversary Edition is the version you want. It bundles the original game and its first expansion, Immortal Throne, into one package and patches in years of fixes, better performance, and bigger multiplayer support. It came out in 2016 as a free upgrade for owners and a fresh buy for everyone else. THQ Nordic still owns and sells it.

After that, the game kept growing. Three more expansions landed between 2017 and 2021: Ragnarök adds a Norse act and a tenth mastery, Atlantis sends you across the sea, and Eternal Embers takes you to ancient China. You can grab them separately or in a bundle. None of it is required, but Ragnarök is the one most people add first.

Want it on the go? There is a mobile port from DotEmu on iOS and Android for $6.99, and it runs the full campaign with touch controls. It is a real version of the game, not a watered-down spinoff.

So why does a 20-year-old loot game hold up? The pacing is generous, the mythology setting still feels fresh next to the usual dark-fantasy crowd, and the dual-mastery system gives you a reason to roll a new character the second you finish. It is also cheap and runs on basically anything. That combination is why it never really left.

Why it's blowing up right now

Titan Quest II is in early access, and on June 18 it shipped Chapter 4: Wild Lands, its biggest update since the game launched in August 2025. THQ Nordic also laid out a 2026 roadmap promising more chapters, bosses, and features through the year. All that attention on the sequel is sending people back to the original to see where the series started, or to fill the wait between sequel updates. The next thing to watch is the rest of that roadmap. Every time the sequel drops a chapter, expect another wave of players reinstalling the 2006 classic.
